Recently, the Merced County Food Bank conducted a needs assessment of their partner agencies and found that many lacked the capacity to store refrigerated and/or frozen foods.
In an effort to increase the amount of fresh and nutritious foods getting into low-income communities, they worked with their partners at the Sunlight Giving Foundation to acquire funding to purchase items that will help their partner agencies increase their storage and distribution capacity. During the last eight months, they have provided commercial-grade large-capacity freezers, refrigerators, carts, pallets jacks, boxes, bags and other items to their partner agencies at Atwater Church of the Nazarene, Calvary Temple, Salivation Army, Apostolic Tabernacle, Harvest Time, Merced Bethel, Bible Christian, Emanuel Baptist, Isaiah Project, Mount Olive, and many more. All of these partners are now serving more fresh and frozen foods.
If any of their partner agencies need items that will increase their storage or distribution capacity, please give them a call so they can help. (209)726-3663
